We are building a new village in the spirit of the great towns and villages that grew up along the southern Gulf Coast until the early 20th century. Our village will offer the essentials of daily life - recreation, shopping, professional and financial services, education and entertainment - all within a short, comfortable walk from every home in the village. With a strong master plan in place, the Village at Tradition will incorporate Mississippi vernacular architecture with gracious front porch galleries, classic lines and details, and outdoor living spaces to enjoy the natural surroundings. And most importantly, a sense of community will be the strong tie that makes The Village such a warm, wonderful place to live.
Rooted in the principles of New Urbanism, The Village at Tradition is a community that embraces the creation of diverse, walkable, compact, vibrant, and mixed use neighborhoods. While composed of the same components of conventional development, these neighborhoods are assembled in a more integrated fashion. Housing, work places, shops, entertainment, schools, parks, churches, and civic facilities essential to the daily lives of the residents are all within easy walking distance of each other. Everything is created on a more human scale. Buildings are placed closer together and exteriors are designed to be safe and attractive for pedestrians. Streets are constructed for slower speeds and traffic is dispersed through many different connections. Walking around town is simply a pleasant, interesting activity.
In addition to a master plan that addresses these New Urbanist principles, The Village at Tradition also pays homage to these great small towns in the naming of our streets. Great Southern towns like Charleston, Savannah, Oxford, Natchez, Holly Springs. Our parks celebrate our history — named for great explorers like DeSoto and Columbus. Our lanes, which run behind the Village homes, are named for the native flora and fauna — azaleas, camellias, and the loblolly pine, to name a few - and traditional southern accents like verandahs.
We believe that people in the world today struggle more than ever to find time in their lives to connect with others, and to create opportunities to just enjoy life, whatever that means to them. Introduce yourself; explore; join a club; volunteer; learn something new; walk; start a new career.
The Village is like your own private oasis, just waiting to be discovered, with homes nestled among towering pines, rolling hills, and nature preserves.
