Environmental Stewardship
Since we are building a community designed to stand the test of time, it is our responsibility to make sure that it strikes a sustainable balance between man and nature. Tradition is a place that encourages "green" building that will last. Our goal is to become a "carbon neutral" community — lessening our footprint and impact with solid environmental practices. We will strive to use renewable and indigenous resources; restore and enhance existing natural ecosystems; place a priority on preventing rather than controlling pollution; and reuse, rather than replace, existing facilities over time, thus creating a link to our history and eliminating wasted building materials. In addition, we're lessening our impact on the environment by lowering greenhouse gas emissions (and utility bills) through energy conservation in our homes and the building materials selected, employing LEED certified principles whenever practical, instituting recycling programs, and the preservation of green space, native plants, and animal habitats.

The Tradition development team has already established a reputation for upholding these principles, working closely with The Nature Conservancy and Fish & Wildlife Service to protect the natural habitats of the gopher tortoise and gopher frog, and controlling the spread of invasive vegetation like cogan grass.
